The Department of Theatre and Dance will be holding in-person auditions for the Fall 2026season onFriday, August 21st and Saturday, August 22nd in the Loft Theatre. Callbacks will be held on Sunday, August 23rd. Any CU student currently enrolled in the Fall 2026 semester is eligible to audition.

Loft Theatre
October 2 - 11, 2026
The Story:
Charley and Myra Brock's tenth wedding anniversary should be an elegant evening among close friends. Instead, the first guests arrive to discover a host with a gunshot wound, a missing hostess, and a mystery no one can quite explain. As more guests arrive, increasingly desperate attempts to preserve appearances create a chain reaction of misunderstandings, assumptions, and outright fabrications. What begins as an evening of quiet concern becomes a funny, brilliantly constructed farce.
Special Notes:
Rumors includes gunshot sound effects, a farcical plot involving gun violence and suicide, mature themes, alcohol use and smoking, physical comedy, and rapid-fire dialogue.
Audition Requirements:
The general audition will be for both Fall productions: 150 Projectand Rumors. Please prepare two contrasting monologues, including one comic selection.The combined performance time should be less than three minutes.
We are not looking for actors who try to be funny. We are looking for actors who pursue objectives truthfully, listen deeply, commit completely to impossible circumstances, and allow the comedy to emerge naturally from honest human behavior.
Cast Breakdown:
While the script specifies 10 actors (five women and five men), we welcome performers of all gender identities and expressions. Casting decisions will prioritize truthful storytelling, ensemble chemistry, and the strongest artistic fit.
This is a true ensemble comedy. Every role is substantial and essential to the storytelling.

Old Main Theatre

The Story:
In celebration of 91ý’s 150th anniversary, the Department of Theatre & Dance partners with acclaimed Tectonic Theatre Project, creators ofThe Laramie Project, to premiere a new work rooted in student voices. Working with Tectonic artist Jimmy Maize, 91ý students will delve into archives and interview students and alumni to uncover the historic, the quiet and the revolutionary moments that have shaped the identity of the university.
Developed through Tectonic’s signature “Moment Work” process, this devised production weaves together vivid scenes exploring identity, belonging and transformation across generations. Performed in the historic Old Main Chapel,The 150 Projectis an evening of living history that shines a light on student voices.
Audition Requirements:
The general audition will be for both Fall productions: 150 Projectand Rumors. Please prepare two contrasting monologues, including one comic selection.The combined performance time should be less than three minutes.
Please list any unique skills or experience on your resume, including but not limited to physical theater, dance, musical instruments, singing, or puppetry.
Cast Breakdown:
We are looking for an ensemble of at least 8 collaborative, generative artists of all identities.
Special Notes:
This rehearsal process will involve one week of devising and co-creating with Roe Green Guest Artist and Tectonic Theater Project company member Jimmy Maize, Aug 24-28, in which we will be working with raw material (stories, interviews, archives from 91ý's 150 year history). After that, our playwright, Sam Collier, will craft a script from what we've devised together.We will resume rehearsals with a script from Oct 12 - Nov 6, opening Nov 7.
Callbacks:
Callbacks will be held in the Loft Theatre from 10am-1pm for Rumors and 2pm – 5 pm for The 150 Project. Callbacks are IN-PERSON ONLY; please alert production immediately if you have a conflict with these callback times @thtrproduction@colorado.edu.
Callbacks for the 150 Project will be held in a group workshop format. Please be prepared to stay for the full 90-minute session. Bring an open mind, a collaborative spirit, and a willingness to play. Please wear movement-ready clothing and closed-toe shoes (no skirts, jeans, or heels) as you will be moving dynamically throughout the space.
