Summer in Boulder offers students and community members the opportunity to get involved in a number of exciting 91´«Ã½ programs that go beyond Summer Session courses.

Science Discovery

CU Science Discovery offers a variety of hands-on STEM (science, technology, engineering and math)  ²¹²Ô»åÌýhigh school classes for K-12 audiences. Week-long full- and half-day programs on the 91´«Ã½ and CU Anschutz Medical campuses explore a variety of topics, including field ecology, robotics and coding, engineering and design, space science, biomedical sciences, maker technologies, photography and much more. All programs, led by CU graduate students and subject matter experts, offer experiential learning activities designed to connect participants to CU science, research, and campus resources and facilities.

Science Discovery High School Classes and STEM Research Experiences

Science Discovery high school classes and STEM Research Experiences prepare high school students for their transition to college and provide insight into possible STEM career paths. These pre-college programs combine academics and campus-based activities to give high school students a well-rounded introduction to college life. Students are immersed in one- to four-week STEM-focused courses in areas such as aerospace, medicine, biomedical research, neuroscience, maker technologies and innovation, robotics, video game design, forensics and more. High school classes and the STEM Research Experience are offered in a commuter format for local students.

Brazilian Bateria Directing Symposium

June 3 - 5, 2026

The Bateria Directing Symposium is specifically designed and intended for experienced percussionists and teachers to develop skills and knowledge in Brazilian percussion and learn the role of directing a bateria ensemble in a school, university or community music setting.

Conducting Symposia

June 7 - 12, 2026

For professional wind and orchestral conductors, these summer symposia—led by College of Music conducting faculty and renowned guests—strengthen conducting technique, rehearsal strategies and more.

CU NOW

is a three-week, interactive session that empowers student singers and composers to workshop their own pieces and works by new opera professionals.

Guitar Summer Academy

The 91´«Ã½ Guitar Summer Academy offers high school students a five-day immersion into the world of the classical guitar led by world-class faculty and guest artists at the newly renovated Imig Music Building. 

Panoramic Flutist Seminar

The Panoramic Flutist is a residential seminar for aspiring and professional flutists. This summer, the high school seminar focuses on improving general skills of tone, technique, auditioning, All-State work and more.

July 20 - 31, 2026

The is a full-scholarship intensive summer chamber music and solo performance program for string musicians ages 11-17. Since summer 2023, the College of Music and SPA have partnered to transform lives by providing private lessons, master classes, recitals, career enrichment sessions and mentorship tailored to each participating student. 

Summer Music Academy

°Õ³ó±ðÌýSummer Music Academy at the University of Colorado Boulder College of Music presents exciting opportunities for high school and middle school musicians from Colorado and around the country to receive world-class instruction.

The Office of International Education offers a number of summer study abroad programs for students, which provide incredible opportunities to travel, explore, and broaden your experience while staying on track to earn your 91´«Ã½ degree. Both  ²¹²Ô»åÌý are available.

Post-Baccalaureate Health Professions

°Õ³ó±ðÌýPost-Baccalaureate Health Professions program is designed for college graduates preparing to transition into clinical healthcare careers such as medicine, dentistry, optometry, physical therapy or veterinary medicine. Participants complete the prerequisite coursework required for admission to professional schools while receiving personalized guidance from an experienced team of dedicated pre-health advisors. The program’s comprehensive advising and application support services help strengthen students’ competitiveness in the professional school admissions process. Each year, between 95% and 100% of applicants from the program successfully gain admission to professional schools. Students in the program typically range in age from their 20s to their 40s and beyond.
