Introducing MENV 2025 Alumni Community Impact Awardee: Bridger Tomlin

Bridger鈥榮 commitment to community service is furthered outside of work. For example, he served on the board of directors for the Downtown Boulder Community Initiatives, working to make Downtown Boulder more inclusive and vibrant. 鈥
On his work with the City of Westminster, Bridger reflects: 鈥
鈥淐ollaboration within the City organization and with regional partners inspires and motivates me! During my five years at Westminster, I鈥檝e witnessed new collaborations, coalitions, and partnerships between regional municipalities, the state, and other local organizations to tackle major energy, waste, and climate issues! Working with these partners broadens who I think of as 鈥渃oworkers鈥 and amplifies what is possible in Westminster and within the Front Range.鈥 鈥
鈥Bridger has also had the privilege of hosting two MENV capstone projects, one of which is working on waste diversion recommendations this summer!听
Course recommendations include....
鈥淪ustainability in Practice, Sustainable Development, and Sustainable Livelihoods and Landscapes are three classes that were crucial to understanding effective programming, policy, and effective implementation in the public sector. My capstone with Rocky Mountain National Park was also instrumental in my understanding of the public engagement and planning process as well as building systems and programs that benefit various stakeholders and user groups.鈥
鈥For students currently in the program, take advantage, as much as you can, of hands-on and practical courses and experiences! It was the relationships and experiences that best prepared me for life after the program. And, for students set to embark on life after MENV, my advice is to be confident and caring towards yourself. You will have the critical skills to succeed, and it may take some time to build up towards your desired professional goals.鈥
