The Design Your Path Living and Learning Community (LLC) in Stearns West Hall is a supportive residential home for students toÌýbroadly yet purposefullyÌýexplore all that CU has toÌýoffer academically, professionally, socially, and personally.ÌýAllÌýExploratory Studies students are eligible to apply toÌýjoin the LLC.ÌýÌý

In thisÌýresidential experience, studentsÌýare offered opportunities in and out of the classroomÌýtoÌýsurfaceÌýinterests,ÌýbuildÌýinterpersonal and professionalÌýskills,Ìýand connect their first-year experiences at CU to a meaningful path of study and professional exploration with purpose.ÌýOver the course of an academic year, studentsÌýtake an in-person first semester seminar: FYXP 2200: Portrait of an Explorer,Ìýare invited toÌýnumerousÌýexploration-themed events including major/minor information sessions, workshops with community professionals, and academic support sessions designed for first-year college students.ÌýThey’reÌýalso invited toÌýparticipateÌýinÌýnumerousÌýsocial events that buildÌýa strong senseÌýof belonging, a critical ingredient to first-year success.Ìý

Design Your Path studentsÌýalso have access to a dedicatedÌýExploratory StudiesÌýprogram manager with extensive experience in education and student success. We work 1:1 with studentsÌýon a wide range of items: from course registration to exposure to career paths, skill development, and learning how to access CU’s manyÌýresources.ÌýThrough engaging in LLC programming,ÌýresidentsÌýhave an opportunity to be truly known at CU and get the support they need from staff and student mentorsÌýto thrive in their first year of college.ÌýÌý

Residents who join the Design Your PathÌýLLCÌýwill be expected toÌýtake an in-person weekly seminar course during first semester,Ìýparticipate in events, communicate their wants and needs toÌýStearns WestÌýHall staff, meet withÌýanÌýacademic advisor at least once a semester and follow community building guidelines set within the residence hall.ÌýÌý

Courses

Students in the Design Your Path LLC areÌýrequiredÌýand will be automatically enrolled in two, 1-credit courses during their first semester: FYXP 1500 and FYXP 2200. While FYXP 1500 is notÌýrequired, students who have completed this course haveÌýshown themselvesÌýto be more successful during their first year on campusÌýand report it being a valuable first-semester experience.ÌýÌý
