Position Summary 

91´«Ã½â€™s Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS) is excited to invite applications for our Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Fellowship.Ìý

The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Fellowship is designed to help early career PMHNPs continue their professional development and training, enhance their competence and confidence in the PMHNP role, and develop professional autonomy.Ìý

Who May Apply 

PMHNP fellowship program applicants must complete a psychiatric nurse practitioner program prior to the start of the program and be within 18 months of completion of this degree. We are committed to seeking a diverse group of applicants. A commitment to the values of social justice and multiculturalism, as evidenced by coursework, community involvement or life experience is required. Applicants should also have relevant clinical experience providing psychiatric services. Applicants must have interest in working on a multidisciplinary team, be familiar with electronic medical records, and documenting clinical notes.

Candidates must have obtained PMHNP board certification, licensure, and provisional prescriptive authority prior to the start of fellowship.Ìý

Clinical Services and Educational Opportunities 

The PMHNP fellow will have the opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists, psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners, psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, and licensed professional counselors. The fellow will collaborate with CAPS staff on all aspects of service delivery. The PMHNP fellow will also attend CAPS staff meetings, all-staff training meetings, and psychiatry specific meetings and trainings.Ìý

The PMHNP Fellow will continue their professional development and training by providing psychiatric services, participating in didactic seminars, case consultations, and supervision.Ìý The fellow will build their own caseload of patients at CAPS by completing initial psychiatric evaluations and follow-up medication management appointments with patients. The PMHNP Fellow will participate in bi-weekly psychiatry team case consultations as well as have weekly individual supervision with a PMHNP or MD.

Start Date, Stipend and Benefits 

The state date for this position is Aug. 3rd, 2026.Ìý

The position is full-time, 40 hours/week, 10-month commitment. The position is salaried and includes a continuing education stipend, health care benefits, vacation and sick leave time.Ìý

Salary at this time is not yet determined, but will be finalized and posted prior to the application period being opened.Ìý

This position has a hybrid option with the fellow being permitted to work 2-days per week remotely.

References will also be asked for during the application process. With references, we require that at least one is from a supervisor/preceptor during a clinical experience in your program and at least one from a supervisor from an employment experience.Ìý
