I absolutely love to travel and what it has taught me. I have been to 8 different countries and have learned so much about the world as a whole. My favorite experience was traveling to Japan with my school. The biggest take away from that trip was has happy everyone was. As I was observing and trying to figure out why everyone was so happy, it was how they treat one another. I learned that the people who live in Japan were always very kind and respectful to everyone around them. I think this is a huge testament to why everyone was so happy. I think that my experience with travel would be greatly beneficial to me in the Global Engineering RAP because I have some experience with learning new cultures and how to be respectful to those around me.
In my opinion I think that global experiences and perspectives can improve the field of engineering greatly. I think that it is very important to study outside of the United States while engineering. I think that people in different countries have different views of what needs to be created or how it is created. I think that it is very important to try and tie in research from various parts of the world so the product or idea can reach many different types of users.
I would love to be apart of the Global Engineering RAP for a couple reasons. First I think that living with students who share the same interests is such a good idea and seems very beneficial for all students. Another thing that I find amazing about this program is how undergraduates work in a small group with a graduate school mentor. One of the biggest things that I love is the Global aspects. I love traveling and learning new aspects of the world. All of these ideas would help me grow as an engineer and as a well rounded person. These are just a couple of the reasons why I would love to be apart of the Global Engineering RAP at Cu Boulder to help different communities.
