Work Hours When School is in Session
International students in F-1 or J-1 status can work on-campus up to 20 hours per week while school is in session during the fall and spring semesters.
- This 20-hour limit applies to the combined total of all on-campus jobs.
- Students are responsible for tracking their hours to ensure compliance with this limit.
Work Hours During Spring Break
International students in F-1 and J-1 Status can work on-campus full-time (more than 20 hours) during the official school breaks with approval from the university in certain situations.
Spring Break 2026
- From Sunday, March 15, 2026 through Saturday, March 21, 2026 students can work more than 20 hours
Exception Request Conditions for Fall, Winter & Spring Breaks
- If a student's hiring department requests them to work more than 50 hours in a bi-weekly pay period during breaks for business or academic reasons, the student’s hiring department must complete the Exception Request for Student Employee Work Hours.
- Approval will not be granted based solely on the student’s desire to work additional hours.
