The Sustainability Council invites the 91´«Ã½ community to attend an during their upcoming meeting on April 12 from 9 to 10:10 a.m. in Kittredge Central Multipurpose Room B. 

After introductions from the council, individuals will be invited to ask questions and propose sustainability ideas beyond the Climate Action Plan (which is being led by a different group). Comments should be kept to three minutes or less to allow for the maximum number of participants.

University Staff: CU allows full-time University staff to keep a maximum of 44 days (or 352 hours) of vacation within a fiscal year (July 1 to June 30). If you exceed this maximum, you must take vacation before June 30, or you will lose it.

Classified Staff: Maximum accruals for Classified staff members in regular appointments are based on months of service. See the for full details.

All staff should double check leave balances now, and make plans to use any hours of vacation time over the maximum allowable accrual time before the July 1 deadline. As always, vacation leave requests are subject to the approval of your supervisor; don’t wait until June to put in your leave requests. If you have any questions regarding vacation leave, please contact your supervisor.

I&S allows volunteer hours to be granted from work to serve the community in various ways. Volunteer time is credited on a fiscal year basis (July 1 through June 30). Some examples of this service may be as a volunteer worker at a charitable organization or attending a school function for one’s child or relative. 

• Volunteer leave must be requested from your supervisor and approved by the appointing authority.
• 16 hours of leave time is granted each fiscal year (pro-rated for appointments less than 100%). Staff who start on or after January 1 receive eight hours of volunteer time to be used before June 30.
• Any unused portion as of June 30 is forfeited (hours do not roll forward).

Check out the 91´«Ã½ holidays for 2024, and please note that starting this year, Juneteenth will be an annual holiday (observed this year on Wednesday, June 19).

Since Chris joined the maintenance team he has strived to become one of the hardest workers. He shows his dedication to his job by showing up first and always getting involved with everything going on. Also since his switch, he has become a real asset to the department. Chris has taken the time to share his previous operational experience and also continue to grow and learn.

Lei is our graduate student bus driver, and one of our most reliable employees. Lei walked into our office one day looking for a job, and we couldn't believe he already had a commercial drivers license. Not only is Lei reliable, he is very much loved by the entire staff and the students. Our office would like to honor him and show how proud we are of him for being a GREAT student as well as a cherished employee. Lei never has had a complaint or an accident with a Buff Bus. Lei is graduating in May, and we hope he still visits us once in a while… it’s been our pleasure knowing Lei Qisheng.

This month, the American Society of Safety Professionals is focusing on eye wellness and protection. This is a reminder for our staff whose jobs involve safety eyewear personal protective equipment (PPE) to always wear their safety glasses. During our recent FACMAN safety committee meeting, we discussed the benefits of sharing these safety topics with our families and friends. And of course remember to wear your sunglasses while on campus as you enjoy the Boulder sunshine!

The FM safety committee meets the third Tuesday of every month to discuss general safety concerns, review safety reports and on-the-job injuries and recommend training needs and resources.
