BFA Ad-hoc Committee Business and BFA Authored Reports

Per the BFA Bylaws Article V Section 6.C, the BFA may createÌýad-hoc committees to address specific campus business. Spring 2026 - Summary of BFA Open AI Contract SurveyÌý

On April 16th the BFA held a special assembly on the issue of the Open AI Contract. You can read information about the contract signed between CU system and Open AI on the system website. Following the assembly the BFA surveyed the faculty for their thoughts on the Open AI contract. We distributed the survey to all BFA representatives and asked them to encourage their unit members to participate in it. We left it open for two weeks and received over 200 faculty responses. Fall 2025 - Common Curriculum Faculty Working GroupÌý

During fall semester of 2025 a faculty working group was formed to make recommendations for the implementation of the Common Curriculum. The group will meet throughout AY25-26 and are expected to serve no later than November 1st, 2027.Ìý

Spring 2025 - IT Security Standards Faculty Working GroupÌý

During spring semester of 2025 a faculty working group was formed to review issues of concern regarding campus IT security standards. The group will meet throughout AY25-26 and make recommendations to the BFA chair on or before May 1, 2026.

April 2025 - Chancellor's Task Force on Faculty SalaryÌý

In response to faculty identifying compensation as the top priority in the 2024 Survey of BFA Priorities and Actions, the BFA and Chancellor Schwartz convened the Task Force recommendations regarding compensation enhancement options and strategies, with an initial focus on teaching professors and tenure-track/tenured faculty. More can also be read about the task force on this page here. They delivered their final report in November of 2025.

Spring/Fall 2024 - University's West District Energy Plant (WDEP) Shared Governance CommitteeÌý

In response to faculty concern with the Board of Regents approval of campus administration approval of a $43 million project to upgrade the steam and electricity generating equipment for the 91´«Ã½ Campus, a shared governance committee was appointed and given three weeks to make a preliminary recommendation. In June, 2024 91´«Ã½ administration elected to move forward with their original recommendation. See related documents below:

Fall 2023- Academic Calendar Reform proposalsÌý

The BFA reviewed two options for proposed academic calendar changes in October and November. BFA representatives were then queried on behalf of their constituents in a poll and the results were shared with Chancellor DiStefano on December 7, 2023 as well as with Assembly.
