Dear colleagues,

Welcome to the February edition of the Provost’s Post. As we celebrate Black History Month, we welcome the recent announcement of $2 million in new funding for the Center for African and African American Studies. Later this week, look for information on how to jump into or continue the generation of big ideas as called for in last week’s State of the Campus address by Chancellor Schwartz. I hope that all of you will take time to participate in the process, think big and move our academic mission forward.

The challenge to that mission in the area of international scholars, students and the federal government is the subject of our latest workshop on federal governance and higher education, which will be held this Thursday, titled .

In this month’s edition of Provost’s Post, read about the offerings and the role of the Writing Center, as well as news and events that you might have missed, including the new leadership structure for the College of Arts and Sciences, the winners of the Three Minute Thesis final competition, and CU physics professor John Cumalat being named a Big 12 Faculty Member of the Year.

With continued change and challenges on our campus and in the world, we can always benefit by reflecting on and staying anchored in our shared values. With this in mind, I invite you to take the 91´«Ã½ Values Survey. This is a critical community conversation and we want to hear from all of you.
